BitMine Boosts Ethereum Holdings to 4.24M ETH, Now Controls 3.52% of Supply

January 27, 2026 (Crypto News Network) — BitMine Immersion Technologies, a leading institutional treasury firm in the cryptocurrency space, has acquired an additional 40,302 ETH, increasing its total Ethereum holdings to approximately 4.24 million ETH, worth more than $12 billion at current market prices. The latest acquisition now places BitMine in control of about 3.52 % of the total circulating Ethereum supply

Major Ethereum Accumulation by Institutional Buyer

According to the company’s most recent disclosures, the purchase of 40,302 ETH — executed over the past week — marks one of BitMine’s largest single buys of the year. With this accumulation, BitMine’s Ethereum treasury now stands as one of the largest corporate ETH positions worldwide

BitMine’s total cryptocurrency and cash holdings, including ETH, Bitcoin (BTC), and strategic equity stakes, have also grown significantly. The firm’s combined portfolio is now valued at approximately $12.8 billion, reflecting broader institutional interest in long-term crypto exposure.

What This Means for the Ethereum Market

With roughly 4.24 million tokens, BitMine holds a substantial stake in the Ethereum ecosystem. The firm’s ETH balance accounts for 3.52 % of the circulating supply, which is estimated to total around 120.7 million tokens. This accumulation pushes BitMine close to its long-term target of controlling 5 % of the network’s supply, a strategic goal the company has publicly outlined.

This level of concentration by a single entity highlights both the growing role of institutional participants in digital assets and the evolving balance of token holdings across the Ethereum network. Significant accumulation by major holders can influence market liquidity and investor sentiment.

Staking and Future Plans

In addition to holding ETH on its balance sheet, BitMine continues to grow its staking operations. The company has staked more than 2 million ETH, generating estimated annualized returns through Ethereum’s proof-of-stake network. BitMine is also planning to launch its own MAVAN validator infrastructure in early 2026 to support and scale its staking activities.

Industry analysts view BitMine’s dual strategy of accumulation and staking as a way to generate yield while maintaining long-term exposure to Ethereum. This approach aligns with a broader trend of institutional builders seeking to tap both capital gains and recurring network rewards from crypto assets.

Outlook and Market Context

Despite recent volatility in digital asset markets, BitMine’s ongoing ETH purchases underscore a continued institutional commitment to Ethereum. Markets have responded with increased trading activity as investors monitor large accumulation trends for signals about future price direction.

As BitMine edges closer to its 5 % supply goal, its actions could influence broader market perceptions of Ethereum’s long-term utility and institutional demand dynamics. Analysts will continue to watch how such concentrated positions interact with broader network fundamentals in the evolving crypto landscape.
